The following is a guest post about how to get your bathroom drawer organized in a jiffy from regular contributor, Kristin at The Gold Project.




Organizing projects do not always require a lot of time to make a big impact. Sometimes it is the smaller projects that make the biggest difference. If you have a messy cabinet or drawer that you have to rummage through every day, then a quick decluttering and organizing session will make a world of difference. The bottom drawer in my bathroom is a great example of this statement.



This drawer was supposed to be my extras drawer. The drawer I didn’t visit very often unless I was out of something, like soap. Then, I realized I was opening it every single day for things like feminine products, Q-tips, and cotton rounds.

I didn’t have a system in place because I didn’t plan on utilizing it daily. A small drawer, but a big organizing lesson.
Always have an organization system no matter how big or small the area.
If you do not have an organization system, this is what your space will end up looking like:





Take a look at the Q-tip box just hanging out on top of other things and the empty wipes pouch. The storage container with the red lid was supposed to hold extra wipes and it is virtually empty.

So, I tackled this drawer using the same steps I use for all of my organizing projects.
Step 1: Remove Everything & Clean
I took everything out of the drawer, grabbed my cleaner and microfiber cloth, and got the drawer ready for new organization.




Step 2: Create a System Using Organizers on Hand
Even though I may not be using a tray, bin, or basket, I do not get rid of it. I have a section in my attic full of extra organization pieces that I pull from often when working on projects. Sometimes, I even swap out organizers that work better on current projects. That is exactly what I did with this drawer. I had to pull a few organizers from my attic and swap them out.



This white woven basket holds all of my feminine products. This basket has been moved around my house so many times because I keep finding better and better uses for it. I have no idea where it came from, but it is one of my favorite baskets.



Q-tips were next on the list. I reach for these every day when applying my makeup. I originally had them in a cabinet above the toilet, but after some thought, I felt this was a better place for them. The storage piece is actually an old baby wipes container without the lid.



This third organizer is one that I found at Wal-Mart in the kitchen section. It came with a set of 2 for under $2.00. It is one of the organizers I had to pull from the attic and I am using it to hold my cotton rounds. I use cotton rounds for my toner that I use twice a day.



The next organizer holds our extra bars of soap and facial wipes. This is a Madesmart organizer that came in a large set from a discount store.



The last organizer holds Kleenex packets and my Ped Egg for my feet. This is another kitchen organizer from Wal-Mart.
All done!
This project took under 20 minutes and made a huge impact in my bathroom. Now, I can open the drawer, pull out what I need, and not have to worry about all of the extras floating around.

These are the items that I will be recycling, throwing away, and storing in the attic.
